Kenya's Founding Chapter of the Africa Festival of Pensions

The Kenya Pension Awards exist because excellence deserves to be named.

For too long, the people governing Africa’s retirement future have done their most important work in complete public invisibility. The trustee who voted against the room to protect her members. The administrator who rebuilt a broken scheme from the inside. The fund manager who made the harder, better decision when the easier one was available. The board that governed through crisis without a single headline.

They deserved a stage. Kenya’s pension sector had never built one.

Until 2022.

The Inaugural Kenya Pension Awards was the first time in East Africa’s history that pension excellence was named publicly, judged independently, and celebrated before an audience that understood the weight of the work being recognised. Twenty-two organisations stood in that room and felt — for the first time — that what they had built was seen.

In 2026 that standard goes continental. The model Kenya built now carries the Africa Festival of Pensions — 17 Africa Awards, independently judged, presented at a dinner and awards ceremony in Mombasa on Friday 20 November 2026, with the Women in Pensions Initiative Leadership Luncheon at midday.

We are not handing out trophies.

We are raising a standard — and inviting every trustee, administrator, fund manager, and pension professional in Kenya, and across Africa, to be measured against it.

Because the KSh 2.81 trillion governing the retirement dignity of millions of Kenyans deserves more than compliance. It deserves excellence. And excellence deserves a name.
